Why Hire a Professional Process Server?
According to United States Legal Procedure, all parties must be notified if they are facing legal action against them in a court of law. Notification (called Service of Process) is accomplished through delivery of documents describing the legal action.
An experienced and knowledgeable Process Server understands the State and Federal laws, is well-versed on best practices, and has experience serving evasive receipts. Battlefield Process Serving staff do everything by the book and can prove that you fairly notified the other parties of impending legal action, avoiding undue delays in your case.
For private process servers, service of process is their primary job.
It is Their main focus day in and out.
Why Shouldn't I Just Use a Sheriff?
Speed
of Service
- Sheriffs have many high-level responsibilities, with process service often a low priority. So service through the sheriff can take weeks or months!
- Sheriffs can only make attempts during business hours usually 9a-5p – which is also when the subjects being served are working.
- Private Process Servers will make attempts outside of normal working hours, and will more quickly effectuate service.
- Battlefield Process Service is able to complete most services with an average three day turn-around.
Customer
Service
- Sheriffs are not required to get back to you quickly when you need an update on a service.
- Private Process Servers run a professional company and want to keep their customers happy. You can expect a fast response to all your questions including update requests.
- When cases are especially personal, clients want up-to-date statuses. And for trials that must be postponed or moved to extend discovery to complete a service, you need a responsive Process Server.
- Waiting a week to find out where things stand versus being able to provide an immediate response creates a very different experience for law firm clients
Knowledge
of Laws
- A private Process Server’s job depends on knowing the laws, rules, and staying apprised of any changes or updates in them. For Sheriffs, process service is just one of many tasks they are responsible for.
- Knowing the nuances of every type of service and situation can’t be expected of a Sheriff who is also taking care of evictions, warrants, prisoner transports and traffic control.
- 58% of the legal professionals surveyed believed Process Servers were more knowledgeable than the Sheriffs, with just 13% thinking the Sheriffs knew more.
